Stephanie is an integral part of PCU since 2006. When she began her employment with us in August 2004, she worked as a Medical Records Clerk. She used the Edward White educational resources and enrolled in a Nursing Program. Stephanie worked as a C.N.A. in Med/Surg and PCU before graduating and passing the nursing boards. Stephanie gives excellent patient care and is well liked by the staff, physicians, and patients.

What many of you may not know about Stephanie is her dedication to the charities she helps.

Stephanie is a runner and through her running she has raised money for various charities. In

May 2009, Stephanie used her PTO time to travel with “Global Peacemakers” for two (2) weeks.

The group traveled to the Dominican Republic to build a school for impoverished children.

In November 2009, Stephanie ran a women’s half marathon for the Leukemia and Lymphoma

Society.

Most recently, for 2010 Stephanie has already completed the “Run with Nuns” 5K in January for St. Jude’s. In February she ran the “St. Pete Scavenger Blast” (5 miles) for CASA, and the

“Suncoast Classic” 5K for the local Ronald McDonald Houses.

This month, Stephanie will be running in the Disney Princess half marathon for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Stephanie, we are proud of the work you are doing to help these community and national charities, we are also proud to have you as an employee at Edward White Hospital.000315-fristaward_StephanieFranzen.jpg

Volunteer Spends 3,000 hours of Her Time Since 1991

Congratulations to Fran Smoot on receiving the Volunteer 2009 First Humanitarian Award.

Fran began volunteering at Edward White Hospital in 1991. For almost 20 years, Fran has served faithfully every Wednesday morning, helping with the mail, patient newspaper delivery and the front desk. Fran has volunteered more than 3000 hours of her time. For many of our patients and visitors, Fran’s smiling face is the first interaction they have with our hospital. Her kindness immediately puts those she touches as ease.

Fran is also a very active member of our H2U group. She makes herself available before and after activities to help with set up and clean up. She keeps a positive attitude and is always welcoming to our new members.

Most recently, Fran volunteered to be the testimonial for our hospital’s emergency department. Both, Fran and her husband have used our Emergency Room, and were very pleased with the quick attention and great care they received.

Thank you Fran for all that you do for everyone – including patients, visitors, medical staff and employees.

The Frist Humanitarian Awards, named in honor of Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr., were created in 1971 to honor outstanding individuals for their humanitarian and volunteer activities. Every year HCA celebrates the humanitarian spirit and principles upon which our company was founded at the Frist Humanitarian Awards ceremony.

Welcome to Edward White Hospital!

Our Accreditations and Certifications

At Edward White Hospital, we have earned accreditation and certifications that reinforce our dedication to the highest standards in patient care.  Edward White Hospital has attained the following accreditations and certifications:

Putting Patients First

As part of our commitment to providing outstanding quality patient care, Edward White took part in the recent launch of hCare.  This electronic medical records system allows doctors at the hospital to quickly and easily access patients’ medical information.  Along with this new system, we have implemented several other systems to streamline sharing patient medical information among health care providers:

  • hCare Hub: Individual physician practices can link to our hCare system, which includes all HCA hospitals.  That gives physicians access to real-time patient information from the hospital.
  • PACS: This system converts diagnostic scans like x-rays, CT scans, and MRI into digital files that can be shared and stored electronically.  Radiology technicians no longer have to wait for film to develop, and patients no longer have to manually deliver their scans to each health care provider.
  • Voice Recognition: Radiologists can interpret their scan results by speaking, rather than dictating.  PACS and voice recognition reduce the turnaround time on diagnostic scans to as little as 30 minutes.
  • eMAR: Our electronic barcoding system allows caregivers to scan each medication at the patient’s bedside.  With eMAR, we eliminate medication errors.
  • MUSE:  This specialized system which digitizes EKG tracings so physicians can review, diagnose and treat heart patients within seconds.
  • ER Wait Times:  The average wait time at Edward White Hospital is less than 20 minutes.  The wait time represents the time it takes to see a qualified medical professional, defined as a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP).  You can get the average ER Wait Time by texting ER to 23000.
